Probably the most maligned of the Napoleonic armies. The individual Spanish soldier was tough, dedicated and reliable, but too often they were poorly equipped and even more badly led. The Spanish Divisions that fought with Wellington in the later stages of the war were a match for the French they encountered, and at Albuera, Blakes forces fought the enemy to a standstill.
